Replacing Small Appliance Plugs

Plugs on heating appliances have a different type of plug. To replace the end that plugs into the appliance:

  1. Cut off the old plug plus 1 inch of cord.
  2. Separate the halves of the new plug by unscrewing or removing clamps.
  3. Strip insulation far enough to make hooks that fit around the terminals.
  4. Secure the contacts by tightening terminal screws.
  5. Screw or clasp the halves of the plug together.
  6. Check out our online step-by-step guides.
