Why Front Load Washers are More Energy Efficient

by Guest Post on Mar 29, 2011

Front load washers are much more energy efficient than vertical washers, which makes them much more environmentally friendly to use. This can be a great investment for those people that are interested in saving the environment and making the world a better place. To better understand how these washing machines are more energy efficient, here are some important factors that make front load washers conserve and use less energy.

The biggest factor that allows front load washers to be so energy efficient is the overall design of the washer. Front load washers use a horizontal axis design, instead of a vertical design which most traditional washers utilize. How does this horizontal design allow front load washers to be more energy efficient? The answer is gravity. Vertical washing machine designs require an agitator, which spins and moves the clothing around in order to remove stains. These agitators use up a great amount of electric energy in order to move heavy loads of clothing around. In front load washers, the drum is free of an agitator, which allows for larger load sizes. The horizontal drum simply spins round and round, allowing gravity to do all of the work. As the drum rotates, gravity pulls down on clothing causing them to tumble and swish around. Gravity literally washes the clothing clean as it rubs the stains out of a load of laundry.

With gravity being the main central force behind the design of front load washers, the need for water is also reduced. Vertical washers require a lot of water in order to sufficiently soak the clothing inside of the drum. On front load washers, gravity again reduces the amount of water as its swishes the clothing and water around, making sure that all of the clothing gets adequately soaked and cleaned. Gravity also allows for less laundry detergent to be used than normal as the gravity does a much better job using the detergent to clean the clothing. Large amounts of detergent are used in vertical washing machines because there is a lot more water used to clean the clothing. In front load washers, less detergent is needed as these machines use less water to clean the laundry.

The fact that front load washers rely on the force of gravity to do most of the work greatly reduces the need for water, detergent, and electrical energy in order to operate effectively. This reduction of water, energy and detergent helps to make front load washers extremely energy efficient. By using this type of washer system, you will be able to save money on your utility costs as well as lessen your carbon footprint. Lessening your carbon footprint is a great way to help make less of an impact on the environment. If you are looking for a washing machine system that will save you time and money, as well as being environmentally friendly, then you need to get your hands on front load washers. These amazing washing systems can give you the results that you are looking for without wasting resources or your money. You can help the environment and your pocketbook all at the same time.
