by Guest on Jan 29, 2018
Have you ever imagine how you would feel if your friends are going out but you can’t go with them because you have some infection? Well, at some point, this has happened to us and it usually isn’t a good thing right?
In this article, we are going to discuss mold allergy as the main reason why you might want to clean your home or office. Mold remediation can take you a long way in making sure you are safe and full of health wherever you are.
If you are suffering from this infection, the best thing is to decrease or completely stop exposing yourself to any kind of mold that causes your reaction. You need to also go for regular checkups and get some medication to keep the allergy in check.
Professional mold removal experts have shared a few useful insights on how to act when you have a mold problem in the house.
Symptoms of mold allergy
The symptoms of mold allergy are usually the same as those you can experience when you have other forms of upper respiratory allergies. The signs and symptoms of a person suffering from mold allergy include:
- Stuffy or running nose
- Watery eyes
- Itchy throat, nose and eyes
- Sneezing
- Dry and scaly skin
- Postnasal drip and cough
The symptoms usually vary with different people. The symptoms can also go from being mild to severe if no proper care is put in place.
These symptoms might show throughout the year or just some times. More often, you will be able to notice them when you are in a place which is highly infected by mold or in an area with damp weather.
Asthma and Mold Allergy
It would be so unfortunate if you suffer from both of these. The asthma symptoms might also get triggered when you get exposed to the mold spores.
Some people might even suffer a strong asthma attack when they get exposed to certain types of mold. The signs and symptoms of someone suffering from asthma include:
- Tightness of the chest
- Coughing
- Breath shortness
- Wheezing
If at all you are experiencing some of these symptoms, you need to visit the doctor immediately. If you take too much time thinking they will go away, they might even get worse than before thus your health will be at great risk.
Risk Factors
There are also a number of things that can lead to you developing mold allergy or even worsen it if you already had the symptoms. These factors include:
- Family history
If you come from a family that has a history with mold allergy, you are also likely to fall victim to it.
- Working in a mold infected area
Working in such an area will automatically get you infected. This is simply because you will be getting exposed to the mold. You need to take proper precautions when working in such areas to be on the safe side.
- Staying in a high humid house
Mold can grow almost everywhere. They can even survive in high humid areas and if your house can provide such environment then you will also get exposed.
- Excess moisture
Moisture is also one of the factors that can make a place suitable for mold to grow. In our houses, this can be caused by leaking water pipes or even floods. Repair the leaking pipes and make sure your house is completely dried up in case of floods.
- Poor ventilation
You need to check the ventilation system of your house and make sure everything is in good condition. Poor ventilation system might lead to moisture being trapped inside your house thus providing a good environment for mold to grow.
Conclusion
As you have seen, ignoring that mold growing in your basement or even in your shower can cause serious problems.
It is always good to take care of the problem while it is still in the early stages before it escalates to something big. The only way to save yourself from this is simply by contacting the professionals for the complete removal of mold in your home.
Remember, prevention is still better than cure. You can save yourself that extra cash you would be using for treatment. Keeping your environment a mold free place is also taking care of those around you.
