Why Rely on Professional Termite Inspection and Treatment?
by Guest on Mar 29, 2020
If you are a homeowner, you have to deal with different pests. The dry and warm weather attracts a diverse range of these pesky creatures, all of which pose varying degrees of danger to the occupants and the structure. One of the most dangerous pests that any homeowner has to deal with is termites. These innocent-looking insects are destructive and they are every homeowner’s nightmare.
The Big Termite Menace
Termite infestation is very common but most homeowners only discover this when it is too late. A 2006 report by the Australian Institute of Architects (AIA) said over 130,000 homes were affected in a period of one year under review.
A similar report by the CSIRO (The Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation) says over 32% of houses in the country are affected. The report says 1 in 3 homes are suffering from termite infestation and goes on to say 2 in 3 homes are going to suffer termite attacks in their lifetime.
To appreciate how big a problem this is, consider that over $1 billion is being spent every year to deal with this problem. In most cases, homeowners discover the problem when it is too late leading to extensive structural repairs. On average, the cost of treating termite damage is $7,900 and this is quite a large sum in the prevailing economic environment.
Considering that general home insurance does not cover termite damage, it behooves a homeowner to find ways to prevent termite infestation or treat the problem as fast as possible.
Leveraging Professional Termite Treatment
There are many DIY resources online and kits available in the stores. While these might work for other pests such as ants, you have to recognize the danger posed by termites. This insect is so secretive that if you are not keen enough, you will discover the problem when the damage is too extensive.
This is where termite inspection and treatment by a professional service comes in. There are various reasons to rely on these experts as opposed to trying DIY termite treatment. Take a look:
Safety Precautions
Most of the products used in termite control are highly poisonous and only people with specialized skills should handle them. Many households have suffered accidents arising from use of termiticides and it is thus advisable to rely on professionals to get the job done.
Inspections
One of the most important services a termite treatment expert will offer is a technical diagnostic inspection. This is an intense activity that can only be done using specialized tools to identify presence of termites. Through this inspection, you will save a lot of time and money by treating only affected areas and identifying where the colony is.
Professional Solutions
Termite treatment solutions offered by certified professionals are more effective and they have been tested and proven. These include baiting and monitoring systems, physical treatment and liquid treatment. A professional termite control company uses a combination of these techniques for more effective services.
Using a professional for termite treatment saves you money, gives peace of mind and is more effective.
