How to Replace a Fill Valve in Your Toilet

1 shut off the water at the supply, turn the handle clockwise to the right until tight

2 drain water in tank down toilet, i recommend using a shop vac to vacuum out the remaining water on the bottom to prevent a mess

3 remove braided hose feeding fill valve, this should only be hand tight

4 remove nut that secures the new valve to toilet with channel locks

5 install new valve, make sure rubber seal is on the inside of tank, tighten nut with channel locks

6 tighten braided hose onto valve hand tight

7 turn water back on slowly, place plastic tube in tank center

8 check height of water and valve operation, flush a few times to make sure it is operating properly

9 your new valve is now installed in less than 10 minutes

If all else fails, contact your local plumbing and drain services specialist.
